WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?The course aims to encourage people to sing with others, in harmony and with quality. It’s about helping people to develop their natural ability and giving them the skills needed to take their singing further if they want to, in whatever direction they wish. Over a period of 8 weeks, we will cover all the vocal techniques
necessary to help participants make the most of their natural singing
voice. All this will be in a friendly and supportive group atmosphere
and the course will culminate in an open evening where the group will
be able to show off their new-found skills to invited friends and family.

Course Director, Andrew Edgley (see pic above), attended North Notts Music School and
has been involved with choral singing in one form or another for over
35 years. He now concentrates on choral work and has directed both
ladies’ and men’s choirs in various styles. Andrew has studied vocal
coaching and improvement techniques and coached numerous Learn
to Sing courses before. All of which makes him ideally suited to run this course.
Now based in the South, he is Musical Director
of Guildford Harmony ladies chorus and he remains an active singer. |

WHO IS IT FOR?The course will particularly suit those who have sung before and are keen to get back to it - but don’t worry if that doesn’t apply to you, or if you don’t read music. Many people come to these courses having never sung before but, by the end of the 8 weeks, you will have learned all the basics and had great fun finding out whether singing is for you. We will guide you through the process of identifying your vocal range and your areas for work and we will provide lots of help and encouragement wherever you need it. |
WHAT WILL IT COST?Nothing! The course is being sponsored by the BBC Performing Arts Fund, and all of the live tuition as well as the loan of sheet music and learning materials is free. Light refreshments will be provided at the end of each session and if you partake you will be asked to make a small contribution. Otherwise, there is absolutely nothing to pay and there are no hidden extras. All we ask is that when you reserve your place you can commit to most of the sessions on offer. |
